Lesson one investigates the EU, what is is, why Britain is leaving and the pros and cons of being a member of the EU. Lesson two examines the differences between refugees and asylum seekers, looks at the asylum process, follows individual case studies, investigates the opinions of the public on immigration and invites students to form their own conclusions based on evidence.

Drop Down Day Pack - A set of 5 lessons to cover a Drop Down Day (5 hours) all about financial literacy and ethical spending.
The Drop Down Day was put together for Year 10 originally, but all the resources are editable and well-differentiated so it could be used with any year group KS4 / KS3 with a tweak or so.
The overall theme for the series of KS4 Drop Down Days was ‘Independent Living’, so this is just one in a series of six which ran throughout the year. The day works especially well if you can have a key speaker from the Finance Industry (the school’s finance director will do) to kick off proceedings; just someone to emphasise how important financial literacy is and how it can lead to lucrative careers.
Intertwined with the money and independent living skills gained by students throughout the day are reminders of their responsibilities as consumers to spend ethically. There is much focus on young people’s rights and responsibilities throughout the lessons as this was planned to ensure thorough coverage of Citizenship and SMSC too.
All these individual lessons have been rated very highly by Tes users and are tried and tested in my own department.

Four hours of lessons all about the careers paths students can choose to follow a STEM careers path or one utilising the core subjects (English, Science and Maths). The first pack has 3 hours in and the second pack has one - an introduction lesson to Careers in STEM.

For the Gatsby Benchmark Careers Guidelines. 1 hour fully resourced careers lesson focusing on why having a good work ethic and being motivated is important and a quality that future employers are looking for.
Firstly, students will investigate what it looks like to display a good work ethic and appear motivated to a potential employer. They will then take stock of why hard work, motivation and a positive attitude pays off and how they can demonstrate they have these qualities and stand out from the crowd.
The lesson sees students complete a skills audit, team group activities, individual tasks, clip tasks and and is perfect for a PSHE / Citizenship careers unit.
